Senokot is a laxative used for the short-term relief of occasional constipation.
Directions For Use
Adults, including the elderly and children over aged 12 years and over: Swallow 2 tablets at night. Not suitable for use in children under 12 years. Use for more than 1 week requires medical supervision. If the symptoms persist or worsen during the use of the medicinal product, a doctor should be consulted.
Warnings and Precautions
Talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse before taking Senokot 7.5mg Tablets if:
senna is needed every day, or abdominal pain persists or worsens
you have no bowel movements after three days
you need senna every day and the cause of constipation should be investigated. Long-term use of laxatives should be avoided
you suffer from kidney disorders
have faecal impaction or rectal bleeding for which you don’t know the cause, or blood in your stools
have had a sudden change in bowel habit that has lasted for more than 2 weeks
have persistent or undiagnosed abdominal complaints e.g. pain, nausea, or vomiting
you are taking medicines for a heart condition or heart rhythm problems
laxatives do not help in long term weight loss
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Not suitable for use in pregnancy & breastfeeding
Contradictions
Hypersensitivity to senna or to any of the excipientsused in this product. Concomitantly with other laxative agents. Senokot Tablets should not be given to patients with symptoms of appendicitis, intestinal obstruction, stenosis, atony, inflammatory bowel disease (e.g. Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis), abdominal pain of unknown origin, severe dehydration state with water and electrolyte depletion Children under 12 years of age.
