What is Otrivine Adult Measured Dose Sinusitis Spray and want is it used for?
Otrivine Spray is for application in the nose to give relief from nasal congestion (blocked nose, including colds), perennial and allergic rhinitis (recurring inflammation of the nasal mucous membranes, including hay fever) and sinusitis. Otrivine Spray contains the active ingredient xylometazoline hydrochloride which helps to open up and clear the nasal passages by reducing the excessive nasal secretions and returning the swollen blood vessels to their normal size.
Warnings and Precautions
-Do not use this medication: -If you have ever had a hypersensitive reaction (e.g. rash, swelling of the face and throat, difficulty breathing) to xylometazoline or to any of the ingredients listed in Section 6 in the patient i---information leaflet -If you are taking, or have taken in the last two weeks, drugs for depression known as Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs). -If you have recently had brain surgery. -If you have had your pituitary gland removed
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
This medication is not suitable to use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to xylometazoline or to any of the excipients in this product. Otrivine should not be used in patients with trans-sphenoidal hypophysectomy or surgery exposing the dura mater. Patients with acute coronary disease, hyperthyroidism or narrow angle glaucoma. Use in patients who are receiving monoamine oxidase inhibitors, or within 14 days of stopping such treatments. Rhinitis sicca and Atrophic rhinitis. Otrivine 0.1% is contraindicated in children aged less than 12 years old
