Product Description :

Canesten 500 mg Pessary is a single-use application for the treatment of vaginal thrush. It is inserted into the vagina for the treatment at the area of infection.

Warning & Precautions

• Only use this product if you have been previously diagnosed by your doctor as having vaginal thrush. 
• Do not use during your period as it may be less effective. 
• Avoid sexual intercourse while using this product, as the infection could be transferred to your partner. 
• This product may reduce the effectiveness of rubber contraceptives
• Do not use other vaginal products while using this product (e.g., tampons or spermicides).

Pharmacist Tip

• The symptoms of thrush should disappear within three days of treatment
• You should contact a doctor if your symptoms worsen or do not improve within seven days.
• If your vagina and vulva are itchy and sore, Canesten Cream can be used externally in combination.

Do not use if :

• If you are aged under 12 or over 60.
• If you currently have a sexually transmitted disease .
• If you have had more than two infections of thrush in the last six months .
• If you have ever had an allergic reaction to Canesten or any of the other ingredients (listed in patient information leaflet).
• If you have any of the following symptoms:

→ Abnormal vaginal bleeding or a blood -stained discharge.

→ Ulcers, blisters or sores of the vagina or vulva.

→Lower abdominal or back pain.

→Pain or difficulty passing urine

This product should not be used during pregnancy or lactation without discussing with a healthcare professional .

Breastfeeding This product should not be used during pregnancy or lactation without discussing with a healthcare professional .

Directions for Use:

•  Canesten 500 mg Pessary is for use in the vagina only . Do not put the pessary in your mouth or swallow it .
• The applicator should be used to insert the pessary as high as possible into the vagina, preferably before going to sleep at night.
• -1) Remove the packaging and pull out the plunger and red lock from the applicator body.
• -2) Remove the pessary from the foil blister pack and place it at the open end of the applicator body with the curved edge of the pessary facing down. Push the plunger and lock into the applicator body until you feel a click.
• -3) Remove the lock from the plunger and then carefully insert the applicator as deep into the vagina as is comfortable (easiest when lying on your back with your knees bent up) up to the patterned grip zone, without pressing on the plunger. -
• 4) Hold the applicator body at the patterned grip zone and slowly push the plunger all the way until it stops, ensuring the pessary is deposited into the vagina.
• After use, dispose in a safe place, out of the reach of children.
